David graduated from Cambridge in 1976. David has gained a reputation as a pig specialist and spends most of his working time visiting pig farms but still finds time for small animal consulting. He holds an RCVS certificate in pig medicine and is recognised by the RCVS as an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner.

Heidrun graduated in Berlin, Germany in 1989. Both David and Heidrun enjoy riding their horses and walking their terrier. Heidrun has a particular interest in orthopaedic problems in dogs and cats - repairing fractures and treating cruciate ligament disease.

Sheldon joined Acorn House in September 2007. He graduated from Cambridge University and has a particular interest and a GP Certificate in ophthalmology. He is involved with the British Small Animal Veterinary Association both locally and nationally. He is a member of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmology and the Goat Veterinary Society. Sheldon enjoys travel, skiing and hill walking. Sheldon became a partner in 2013.

Gaynor joined the practice in 2002 and became a partner in 2009. Gaynor is responsible for the day to day running of the surgery. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, riding her horse and walking her dogs

Katharine has been working for us since her graduation from Cambridge in 2003. She gained her GP Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2007, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Animal Behaviour in 2016. Katharine is currently undertaking a research project in association with Acorn House and the Animal Behaviour Clinic at Lincoln University which will allow her to complete her MSc in animal behaviour in 2017. Katharine enjoys the sheer variety of patients that she has the privilege of working with at Acorn House and has even been known to say that she enjoys the adrenaline rush of a genuine emergency in the middle of the night! Katharine is able to offer home visits to assess and advise on problem behaviour in cats and dogs.

Adele graduated from Cambridge in 2009. She completed her GP certificate in small animal medicine in 2011 and her case report was published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. She also enjoys ultrasonography and has done an advanced abdominal ultrasonography course, echocardiography course and an externship at Dick White Referral Specialists. In March 2017 she gained a distinction in the BSAVA Postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. In her spare time she enjoys playing violin with the Cambridge Philharmonic and looking after her two three legged rescue cats. Adele is currently on maternity leave after having a baby boy last December and will be coming back in September 2017.

Nia graduated from Cambridge in the summer of 2014, she started work for Acorn in November. After graduating Nia spent time working in a veterinary clinic in the Galapagos dealing with pets as well as the odd iguana! Nia enjoys surgery, has an interest in neurology and a particular soft spot for Labradors.

Alex studied in Hanover, Germany, and came to us in October 2016 after having undertaken an internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists near Barton-le Clay. He has a special interest in reptiles and also enjoys all kinds of surgery. In his spare time he drives and hikes in the countryside or visits his family back in Germany.

Rosie started working for the practice after graduation from Cambridge in 1998. Rosie has a particular interest in pet dentistry but enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary work.

Nadia Kopec

Nadia studied for her BSc Hons in Physiotherapy and qualified in 2006. Nadia worked in the NHS for 10 years before deciding to further her studies in the animal sector became a Category A member of ACPAT in June 2015. Having spent the last year completing research in canine kinematics Nadia has extended her knowledge further whilst continuing to develop her veterinary physiotherapy skills.

Kerry passed her RCVS examinations in July 2000. She has worked at Acorn House since August 2001. Kerry is one of our assessors responsible for student nurse training. Kerry passed the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Surgical) in 2007. Kerry has a pony called Elkie

Sharon is our longest serving member of staff having joined the practice in April 1993. She is one of our training assessors and has a keen interest in nursing clinics and dental care. Sharon has a cat that she rescued from the surgery.

Jo has been employed at Acorn House since May 2006, when she moved from Kent to Bedford. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2003 and acheived her assessor award in 2004. Jo has 2 cats, rescued from the surgery. She enjoys horse riding and mountain biking. Jo has undertaken further training in animal behaviour.

Rachel joined us in 2015. She spent two years studying for a national diploma in animal management and obtained straight distinctions! Rachel then went on to to complete a 4 year degree at Edinburgh Napier University. She has 3 rescue cats called Bella, Lucy and Daisy.

Kelly qualified in 2002 and worked in a practice in Milton Keynes for 5 years before joining us in 2011. She has a soft spot for bunnies, but loves any little fluffy creatures. Kelly enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, but is particularly involved with our nurse-led clinics.

Jo has worked for the practice since August 1997; she qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2005. Jo consults in our nurse clinics, assists with surgery and anaesthesia, helps out on reception, and co-ordinates our pet photo shoots at the surgery.

Carla qualified in 2015 and joined the Acorn House team in November 2016. Carla owns a black cat called Sapphire that has an attitude problem! In her spare time she enjoys walking, camping and painting.

Debbie qualified as an RVN in 2013. Debbie orignally trained as a graphic designer but decided to change her career to veterinary nursing and joined the surgery in 2009. Debbie is currently on maternity leave after having her second baby.

Emma has been with us since April 2013, she has three cats, two horses and enjoys riding in her spare time. Emma likes emergency and surgical nursing.

Jessica joined us in September 2014, previously attending Hartpury College where she obtained a National Diploma in Equine management. Jessica although not having her own horse at present, enjoys horse riding, running and walking her dog Ozzie. Ozzie had not had an easy start in life, so Jess has gained a lot of experience in retraining and rehabilitation through the work she has been doing with him.

Rachel started at Acorn in June 2015 as a trainee nurse. She has a Labrador called Toby and has rescued a dog called Sid who she is pictured with. Her hobbies include drawing & art. She also helps care for and ride a lovely horse called Alvin in her spare time.

Paul returned to work with us in July 2011. Paul trained and qualified with Acorn House some years ago and went on to become a College Lecturer teaching Veterinary Nursing Students. Paul returned to the practice and after a long nursing carer he is now our Practice Administrator

Karen is our second most long standing member of staff having arrived from Ireland in Sept 1993. She spends the majority of her time assisting our senior partner with our farm clients. Karen is also responsible for ordering the stock for the practice and managing our dispensary.

Claire originally qualified as a veterinary nurse with us then went on to travel and work at another practice. She came back to Acorn in 2014 and primarily works for us as an office administrator. However, her nursing skills are not forgotten and Clare often jumps into nursing mode when an extra pair of hands are required!

Tracie joined the practice in November 2014 with almost 20 years of customer care management experience under her belt. Tracie owns two Jack Russells called Bridget and Alfie and also get a lot of pleasure from her tropical fish tank. In her spare time Tracie likes to go to London to visit her son and to go shopping and sightseeing.

Gillian joined the practice in 2016 after being a customer at Acorn House with her rescue dogs for many years. Gillian worked in finance for the local council for many years before having a complete career change and working in healthcare in a local pharmacy, a carer in a residential and nursing home and as a community carer which she still does on a part time basis. Gillian lives with her two rescue dogs Skip, a Jack Russel Terrier and Molly a Jack Russel cross chihuahua who enjoys taking on dog friendly holidays around the country.

Amanda has been a receptionist for over 20 years and started working in a hospital. She has moved from people to pets and joined us in 2015. Her hobbies are walking two dogs and wine tasting.

Clare joined the team in 2013 after running her own pet care business. Clare shares her home with her cat Harvey, she is a member of a community choir and loves spending time with her family. Clare is working for us part time whilst studying for a degree in history.

Michelle originally joined the practice as a trainee nurse in 1991. Michelle has now joined the customer care team and is renowned within the practice for her encyclopaedic knowledge of pets and their owners!

Jodie joined the practice as a customer care advisor in July 2014. She has three dogs, one cat and a rabbit. Jodie enjoys horse riding and spending time with her family.

Sally joined us in 2006, after leaving a career in human nursing. She owns two dogs, two cats, two goats and a horse.
